Pour the dry sherry into a mixing glass with ice, add the sweet vermouth, STIR and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a dash of orange bitters. Garnish with an orange zest twist.

This apertif was first mixed back in 1886 to celebrate the success of a Broadway musical. There are no details on anyone looking like a Greek Adonis, either the barman or the male lead in the musical. So the legacy of the name of this cocktail remains somewhat a mystery. This cocktail remained popular until the 1950's and 1960's when the long drink became more fashionable.
