Clear in colour. Babicka Original Wormwood Vodka has a light creamy floral bouquet with subtle undertones of citrus and wormwood. The palate reveals a sweet subtle taste of rich vanilla, caramel and aniseed, with a smooth texture and full mouth feel. The subtle sweetness of Babicka comes from the use of early harvested and locally grown Moravian corn. The corn is fermented, then triple distilled to create the vodka. The wormwood comes from the eastern Czech Republic. It is picked by hand as it flowers and then dried in the open air. The active ingredient in wormwood (thujone) is extracted, and the remaining wormwood is macerated along with other herbs and spices, including fennel and anise, to make a herb distillate. The thujone extract is added to the distillate and is then twice distilled. The vodka is combined with the herb distillate and distilled one last time. The finished vodka is charcoal filtered and left to rest for around 2 months allowing the flavours and aromas of the herbs and spices to marry and become more pronounced. It is reduced to bottling strength with pure water drawn from deep springs near the city of Prostejov.
