Description

Description:

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red 'Pie VI' by M. Chapoutier is a bold and characterful Rhône Valley red, named in tribute to Pope Pius VI, who passed through the region on his journey into exile. Produced by the esteemed house of M. Chapoutier - a name synonymous with biodynamic excellence and terroir expression - this wine is a powerful yet elegant take on one of France's most iconic appellations.

Made from a traditional blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grown on galet-strewn soils, 'Pie VI' offers depth, structure and a harmonious balance between fruit and spice. Aged partly in vats and partly in oak, it captures the essence of Châteauneuf-du-Pape with both generosity and finesse.

Tasting Notes
Appearance
Deep garnet with ruby highlights and impressive clarity at the rim.

Nose
Fragrant and intense, with aromas of ripe black cherry, blackberry and plum, layered with notes of garrigue herbs, black pepper, liquorice and subtle vanilla oak.

Palate
Full-bodied and silky. The palate opens with concentrated dark fruit, followed by hints of dried thyme, cocoa and sweet spice. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated, providing structure without overpowering the vibrant fruit core.

Finish
Long and warming, with a savoury edge and lingering flavours of black fruit compote, spice and a touch of earthy minerality.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red 'Pie VI' by M. Chapoutier is a compelling Rhône red that delivers both history and depth in every glass. Perfect for pairing with roast meats, game dishes or aged cheeses, it's a wine that brings power, elegance and a sense of place to the table.
