Domaines Schlumberger Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives Cuvee Christine is a Late Harvest wine; the grapes are picked in overmaturity several weeks after the harvest season to concentrate the sugars in the grape juice. A sweet candied bouquet of pastry, fruit jelly, marshmallows and tropical fruit. Aeration brings out even more exotic fruit notes and an elegant floral character. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, fresh and naturally acidic with a firm bitterness and remarkable balance. The finish is superbly long. This wine will pair marvellously well with dessert. Domaines Schlumberger's Cuvees de Collection are the rarest wines in their range, derived from Late Harvest or noble roots and are only produced during exceptional years. The wines in the range take their names from historic members of the Schlumberger family who have helped run the estate through the years. Christine Schlumberger was born in 1894 and managed the estate for almost twenty years of her life.
