Domaines Schlumberger

Perched on the steep, sun-drenched slopes above Guebwiller in Alsace, Domaines Schlumberger is a family vintner whose story spans over two centuries. Founded in 1810 by Nicolas Schlumberger, the estate combines deep heritage with a bold commitment to quality and terroir. Today, under the stewardship of the 6th and 7th generations, it is one of Alsace's most respected domaine-vignerons: fully estate owned, steeped in tradition, yet forward thinking in viticulture and winemaking.

What sets Domaines Schlumberger apart is its terroir and sheer scale. Stretching across approximately 130-140 hectares of vineyards, the domaine holds one of the largest contiguous vineyard estates in Alsace. More than half of its holdings are classified as Grand Cru, notably Kitterlé, Spiegel, Kessler, and Saering, each offering distinctive microclimates, soil types, and expression. On steep slopes with gradients up to 50-60 degrees, vines face south or southeast to maximise sunlight, while the cool Alsace air preserves acidity and elegance.

Stewardship of the land is in the domain's DNA. Since 2003, the vineyards have been managed sustainably, and substantial vineyard acreage has been converted to biodynamic farming. The domaine is 100% récoltant, meaning all grapes are estate grown, not bought from others - ensuring traceability, consistency, and respect for the land's voice. Their wines are shaped with precision and care in a modern cellar, balancing tradition with innovation.

For lovers of wine seeking purity, terroir and elegance, Domaines Schlumberger offers wines that reflect the soul of Alsace. Whether it's Riesling's mineral intensity, Gewürztraminer's aroma, or Pinot Gris' texture, each bottle delivers a unique sense of place - one built on history, nature, and craftsmanship.
