Jinzu Gin is a British gin crafted with a lot of influence from Japan. Just three core traditional botanicals are used: juniper, coriander and angelica. To these are added cherry blossoms, and yuzu, a fragrant Japanese citrus fruit resembling a cross between a lemon, mandarin and grapefruit. The distilled gin is then blended with a distilled Junmai sake to produce the final product. The yuzu brings citrus aromas to the forefront, with the cherry blossom bringing a gentle floral character. A light juniper note ties the whole experience together. A smooth spirit, easy to sip neat, with the sake bringing a creamy texture. A contemporary spirit, offering something new for adventurous gin drinkers without straying too far to be unrecognisable as a gin. When served in a G&T, a slice of green apple is suggested as a garnish, the crispness complimenting the style of gin and the acid in the fruit enhancing the sake. |
