Mai Tai
Ingredients:
Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a highball glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime and a sprig of mint set on the rim of the glass. Add a straw, stirrer and serve.
Mai Tai is the Tahitian word for "good". The story goes that this cocktail is the creation of "Trader Vic" in Oakland, California, in 1944. He mixed a concoction of 17 year old dark rum, the juice of a fresh whole lime, a few dashes of Dutch orange Curacao, French orgeat (almond syrup) and rock candy syrup. After a few vigorous shakes, he filled a glass with shaked ice and garnished it with a wedge of half a lime and a sprig of mint. Two friends from Tahiti were presented with the cocktail and after a sip, one pronouced it to be "Mai tai roe ae" which literally means "very good".
