Tom and Jerry

Ingredients:
35ml Goslings Black Seal 80 Proof Rum
15ml Torres 10 Gran Reserva Imperial Brandy
5ml Caster Sugar
1 Fresh Egg
Beat the egg yolk and egg white separately. Then mix them together in the toddy glass. Add the rum, brandy and sugar and fill will boiling water (or hot milk if you prefer) and gently STIR. Grate fresh nutmeg over the top and serve.

A hot drink invented by "Professor" Jerry Thomas in 1852 at the Planter's House Bar, St Louis, Missouri. When he moved to New York, the people of Manhattan found the cocktail pleasing. The "Professor" though refused to serve the drink before the first snowfall - making this a classic winter warmer of that era.
