Produced in the Champagne region of France by the Cattier family, this expression is the flagship cuvee of the Armand de Brignac range, presented here in jeroboam format (3 litres, equivalent to four standard bottles). Large format Champagne is known for slower ageing and improved integration, resulting in a finer mousse and greater balance over time. The wine is a multi vintage blend, combining base wines from several harvest years. This approach allows for consistency while also building complexity through layering. The blend is typically composed of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, sourced from Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards across the region.
Vinification is carried out on a parcel basis, with each vineyard lot fermented separately. Only the first pressing is used, ensuring purity and precision. Malolactic fermentation is generally completed, softening acidity and contributing to a more rounded texture. Ageing on lees plays a central role, with extended maturation developing autolytic characteristics such as brioche, toast, and creaminess. In jeroboam format, this process is slower and more controlled, allowing the wine to retain freshness while gaining depth.
Blending is highly selective, combining multiple vintages and vineyard sources to achieve a layered and cohesive structure. The dosage is aged separately in oak, contributing additional richness and integration. The presentation is distinctive, with the large gold-coated bottle and hand-applied pewter label. Each bottle is finished individually, reinforcing the luxury positioning of the cuvee. The overall style is rich, creamy, and structured, with a balance between ripe fruit, autolytic depth, and mineral freshness. The jeroboam format enhances texture and ageing potential, making it particularly suited to long-term cellaring or large-scale occasions.
