Arran Port Cask Finish Single Malt Whisky is a cask-finished island expression that highlights how fortified wine barrels can shape and extend the distillery's naturally fruit-driven spirit. Produced at Lochranza Distillery, it is initially matured in traditional oak casks before being transferred into port pipes sourced from Portugal for a finishing period. This secondary maturation introduces additional depth and colour while allowing the underlying character of the spirit to remain clearly defined.
Part of Arran's established cask finish range, this release focuses on showcasing the effect of specific cask types rather than altering the whisky's core identity. The use of port casks adds a darker, wine-influenced dimension, complementing the distillery's fresh and fruit-led style. As with other Arran bottlings, it is presented without chill filtration and without added colouring, maintaining a natural presentation that reflects the whisky as it comes from the cask. The result is a well-structured expression that demonstrates the balance between spirit and finishing cask.
