Description

Description:

Brenne Cuvee Speciale is a distinctive French single malt whisky produced in the Cognac region of France, where traditional whisky-making techniques intersect with centuries old brandy expertise. Crafted from 100% French barley and distilled in alembic pot stills more commonly associated with Cognac production, Brenne embraces a terroir driven philosophy rarely seen in Scotch. The whisky is initially matured in French oak and ex-Cognac casks before receiving a finishing period in hand selected Cognac barrels, imparting unique fruit complexity and supple texture. Bottled at a higher strength than the estate’s flagship expression, Cuvee Speciale showcases greater concentration and depth while retaining its elegant French identity.

Unlike many single malts dominated by peat or heavy oak, Brenne focuses on fruit purity, spice, and integrated sweetness. The influence of Cognac casks contributes layers of baked orchard fruit, pastry-like richness, and subtle grape nuance, creating a profile that bridges whisky structure with French finesse.

Tasting Notes
Appearance
Rich golden amber with copper highlights and medium, slow-forming legs.

Aroma
Ripe pear and baked apple lead, followed by vanilla custard, toasted brioche, honey, and delicate floral notes. Subtle hints of dried apricot, almond, and gentle oak spice develop with time.

Palate
Silky and fruit-forward. Sweet orchard fruits unfold into layers of caramelized apple tart, light grape sweetness from Cognac cask influence, soft cinnamon spice, and creamy vanilla. The higher proof adds structure and warmth while preserving balance and finesse.

Finish
Medium-long and warming, with lingering baked fruit, gentle oak tannin, and a refined spice fade that leaves a softly sweet, elegant impression.
