Chairman's Reserve The Forgotten Casks Rum is a limited-style release that originates from an unusual moment in the history of St. Lucia Distillers. Following a fire at the distillery in 2007, a number of ageing casks were relocated and stored in different areas of the warehouse. Some of these were effectively "forgotten" for a period of time, leading to a later rediscovery and the creation of this expression using those older, separately aged stocks.
The rum is a blend of column and pot still distillates, aged in oak barrels before being brought together after this extended and somewhat unplanned maturation. The focus of the release is on how these casks developed over time under different conditions, rather than on a fixed ageing statement. It represents a continuation of the distillery's blending approach, but with an added historical element tied directly to the circumstances of its production. The result sits alongside the core Chairman's Reserve range as a more developed and story-driven expression.
