Description

Description:

Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge from Domaine Chante Cigale is a captivating expression of one of the most prestigious appellations in the Southern Rhone Valley of France. Celebrated for its rich history, complex blends, and powerful yet elegant reds, Chateauneuf du Pape is synonymous with quality and depth. Domaine Chante Cigale takes this tradition to heart, crafting a wine that seamlessly marries intensity, structure, and regional character, making it a standout for lovers of classic Rhone style.

Rooted in soils rich with galets roules (rounded pebbles) that retain heat and encourage deep ripening, the vineyards benefit from abundant sunshine and cooling Mistral winds - conditions that produce grapes with concentrated flavour and refined tannic structure. Domaine Chante Cigale uses a blend of traditional grape varieties to create a wine that is both powerful and layered.

Tasting Notes
Appearance:
Deep ruby with violet reflections, dense and luminous in the glass.

Aroma:
Complex and inviting, with aromas of ripe black cherry, bramble, and dark plum, interwoven with fragrant notes of spice, Provencal herbs (garrigue), licorice, and subtle leather. Underlying hints of smoke, pepper, and earth add depth and intrigue.

Palate:
Full-bodied and concentrated, this Chateauneuf du Pape shows generous layers of black fruit, red berries, and cassis, supported by firm, structured tannins. Flavours of blackberry, dark cherry, and raspberry are complemented by herbal spice, white pepper, and hints of tobacco leaf. The presence of Mourvèdre and Syrah contributes savoury complexity and fine grip, balancing the wine’s rich fruit core.

Finish:
Long, persistent, and harmonious, with lingering dark fruit, spice, and subtle mineral undertones-the result of old vines, careful blending, and thoughtful oak integration.
