Description

Description:

This sits at the core of the Imperial range, offering the same house style as the Gran Reserva but in a slightly earlier, more open stage of development. CVNE has long been one of Rioja’s defining producers, and Imperial is sourced from higher quality vineyards in Rioja Alta, giving the wine a more structured and consistent identity than standard blends. Reserva ageing typically means around two years in oak followed by additional time in bottle, which brings a balance between fresh fruit and early integration. Here, that balance is quite clear, with the wine showing both sides at once rather than leaning fully into maturity.

The first impression is steady and composed, with the fruit present but held in place by structure, giving a sense of control rather than openness. It does not feel closed, but it avoids being immediate, instead settling into itself as it opens. Across the palate, there is a clear line running through the wine, where fruit, oak, and acidity move together in a smooth and even progression. The oak influence is noticeable but already integrated, adding depth and a slight warmth without dominating the profile. There is a gentle layering to the wine, with subtle spice and savoury notes sitting just beneath the fruit, giving a bit more complexity while keeping everything aligned. The texture is polished but still structured, with fine tannins that give shape and length, allowing the wine to feel both composed and approachable at the same time.

Overall, this is a classic Rioja Reserva, offering a balance between freshness and development, with a style that feels complete, steady, and well integrated without the full maturity of a Gran Reserva.
