The Dalmore 18 year old is an evolution of the Dalmore house style; a robust and formidable expression harnessing bolder notes. The whisky is matured initially in ex-bourbon casks for fourteen years before being transferred to Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts from the Gonzalez Byass sherry house for a further four years. Layers of sweetness initially on the nose with syrup and molasses. Fruitier notes soon become apparent, with orange, apricot and grapefruit and even some vanilla and dark chocolate. On the palate, the flavours of dark chocolate are apparent, with rich coffee and tobacco. More flavours reveal themselves over time. A long finish with a strong oak influence.
