Dalwhinnie Distiller's Edition 2000 is a vintage expression from Scotland's highest and most remote distillery. This edition was distilled in 2000 and bottled in 2016. Master Distiller Bruce Mackenzie hand selected a small number of casks for a second maturation in former Oloroso sherry casks, chosen to compliment the Dalwhinnie style. At its core, this whisky retains the distinctive distillery style, carrying aromas of honeyed heather and a little peat. Layered atop this, without ever masking it, are dry sherry notes, bringing new complexity to this malt. On the palate there is a big hit of initial spiciness, fading into sweeter, fruitier notes of grape and pear. Oak and vanilla bring a much drier taste to the finish. |
