Description

Description:

Chardonnay forms the entirety of this cuvee, shaped by a warm and relatively early growing season that produced fruit with ripeness and approachability while retaining sufficient structure. Compared to cooler vintages, 2017 presents a broader, more open profile from the outset. Fruit selection centres on Grand Cru sites in the Cote des Blancs, including Avize, Le Mesnil sur Oger, and Oger. These vineyards provide the underlying chalk driven tension, though in this vintage the emphasis shifts slightly toward ripe orchard fruit and softer citrus. Fermentation in stainless steel preserves clarity and precision, with each parcel handled separately before blending. This allows the final composition to balance freshness with the natural generosity of the vintage.

Time spent maturing on lees contributes to texture and aromatic layering. During this period, fine bubbles develop alongside notes of brioche, pastry, and lightly toasted elements, integrating with the fruit rather than dominating it. The 2017 vintage is less austere than cooler years, offering a more accessible expression of Blanc de Blancs while still maintaining structure. It sits between freshness and roundness, with a softer overall profile. The resulting style is elegant but more open, combining citrus and orchard fruit with a gentle mineral backbone and a smoother texture.

Tasting Notes
Nose:
Ripe apple, pear, and citrus are complemented by white flowers and a hint of brioche. A soft chalk note sits in the background.

Palate:
Balanced and slightly broader, with lemon, orchard fruit, and light pastry. The texture is smooth, supported by fine bubbles and moderate acidity.

Finish:
Medium to long, with lingering citrus, soft toast, and a gentle mineral edge. Rounded yet clean, with a composed close.
