The name Disznoko - meaning "Pigstone" in Hungarian - originates from a distinctive rock formation on the estate, symbolising the winery’s deep connection to land, folklore, and local identity.
The history of Disznóko stretches back to the 18th century, when the estate became recognised for producing high-quality Tokaji wines prized by European royalty and aristocracy. It holds a special place in wine history as one of the world’s first officially classified wine regions, established in 1737 - a testament to its longstanding prestige.
Disznóko’s vineyards have long been associated with the production of Tokaji Aszú, the noble sweet wine made from grapes affected by botrytis cinerea, or noble rot, which concentrates sugar, acidity, and flavour.
