A 40 year old single malt whisky from Glenfarclas that represents excellent value. Perhaps one of the most understated packaging of any 40 year old whiskies currently in production. The guys as Glenfarclas clearly let their whisky do the talking - less eye candy, more substance. Bottled at 46% abv, this whisky is designed for drinking rather than resting on some mantlepiece. Rich and dark gold in colour. On the nose you get the impressions of antique leather, walnuts and chocolate coated raisins. The initial sweet taste with hints of orange and chocolate, melts into a lovely flavour of burnt brown sugar. A big dry finish with rich dark cocoa bean flavour. Just add a splash of water to the whisky to open it up and revel in its secrets.
