Glengoyne 12 Year Old is a natural rich gold in colour. On the nose, the distiller's signature apple aromas are notable, as is a fruity sherry character. Some sweet honey and a little citrus makes for a well-balanced nose. To taste, you get fruity and biscuity notes, apple, orange and shortbread. A touch of grassiness too, all complimented by a rich, viscous mouthfeel. Fruity sherry and spices shine through in the finish. The 12 Year Old is blended from 20% first fill European Oak Sherry casks, 20% first fill American Oak Bourbon casks and the remainder hand-selected quality Oak Refill casks. It is bottled, like all Glengoyne whiskies, without the addition of any colour. An exceptionally well-balanced and approachable dram. |
