Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1990 is the first release in the Glenmorangie distillery's Bond House No.1 series which showcases the individuality of their most complex, elegant vintage malts. The casks this vintage malt is drawn from were first distilled in 1990 and matured for 25 years before its bottling in 2016. The Bond House No.1 series is named in tribute to Glenmorangie's largest 19th century bonded warehouse, and this inaugural expression marks the year the bond house was converted to a new still house in order to double the distillery's production capacity. On the nose, heady fresh floral and fruity notes will strike you first, showing a great deal of complexity. Apricots, oranges and sultanas, spicy hints of nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. On the palate, there are flavours of sweet orange syrup, honeycomb and vanilla, alongside some rich maltiness and light herbal notes. More fruitiness and just a mere hint of oak linger on the finish. Glenmorangie's Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden says that 'Even today, few can explain how a spirit so delicious could emerge from a barley crop of such challenges' describing the previous year's troubled harvest. Glenmorangie Grand Vintage 1990 is an elegant, classy and beautifully balanced dram. Very limited stock.
