Milsean is the seventh release from Glenmorangie's award-winning Private Edition range. Milsean, pronounced 'meel-shawn' is a Scots Gaelic expression for 'sweet things'. In the creation of Milsean, Dr Bill Lumsden, Master Distiller and Director of Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie, was inspired by the extravagant selections found in traditional sweet shops. Dr Bill specially selected ex-wine casks that he knew would impart sweetness to the whisky aiming to replicate some of those sweet shop flavours within a single malt whisky. Milsean is created from Glenmorangie matured first in ex-bourbon casks and then in Portuguese ex-wine casks which were re-toasted with live flame to further enhance the sweeter notes within the whisky. The result is the most exuberant and intriguing Private Edition whisky yet. Milsean is a copper beech coloured whisky, with a sweet and spicy aroma, hints of sugar cane, ripe fruits, candy and buttery coconut. The taste has sweet shop flavours in abundance, complex sugar flavours with tart fruits, cherries, angelica and candied orange peel; the sweet things, as it's Gaelic name implies; it complements the familiar Glenmorangie notes of peaches, nectarines, plums and melons.
