This expression represents one of the most extreme interpretations of modern absinthe, defined primarily by its exceptionally high alcohol content. Produced in the Czech Republic, it follows a similar base approach to other contemporary absinthes, using a neutral spirit infused with traditional botanicals such as wormwood, anise, and fennel, but with a clear emphasis on strength over refinement. At 89.9% ABV, it sits far beyond traditional absinthe bottlings, which were historically diluted before consumption but rarely bottled at such intensity. The "XC" designation signals this focus on high strength, placing it in a niche category where novelty and potency are central. Compared to classical French or Swiss styles, the botanical integration is more direct and less nuanced, with alcohol playing a dominant role in the overall profile. It is strictly intended to be diluted before drinking, both for safety and to allow the herbal components to emerge. Even when diluted, it retains a bold, assertive character, making it more suited to controlled serves rather than delicate preparations.
