This expression represents a more mature and fuller-bodied style within the Cuban rum tradition, built on the same molasses-based production but with extended aging. Distilled in column stills and aged for a minimum of seven years in oak, it develops greater depth while maintaining the balance and elegance characteristic of Cuban rum. Unlike lighter, filtered styles, this rum retains its natural colour and showcases the influence of prolonged contact with wood. The aging process brings increased complexity, with a stronger presence of oak, spice, and darker sugar notes, while still avoiding the heaviness found in some other rum traditions.
It is often enjoyed neat or over ice, where its structure and depth can be appreciated, but it also works well in spirit-forward cocktails such as a Rum Old Fashioned, where its richer profile adds weight without overwhelming balance.
