This expression represents a step up in maturity within the Hennessy range, built from a blend of eaux-de-vie aged longer than those used in VS. Produced using traditional double distillation in copper pot stills, it is matured in French oak, allowing for greater integration of wood influence and spirit character. Originally created in the early 19th century as a - Very Superior Old Pale - Cognac, it reflects a balance between youthful freshness and developed complexity. Compared to VS, it shows more rounded structure, with oak, spice, and fruit working in closer harmony. The blending process is central, combining multiple eaux-de-vie to achieve consistency and a layered profile. It can be enjoyed neat, over ice, or in more spirit-forward cocktails, where its added depth and smoothness provide a more refined base.
