Highland Park 15 Year Old Viking Heart is a rich and complex single malt. It opens with rich and spicy aromas of crème brûlée, heather honey and crumbled cinnamon, followed by intensely fruity notes reminiscent of fresh pineapple and sun-kissed lemon zest. There's hints of freshly baked sponge cake with further hints of cinnamon. Citrus and vanilla notes linger in the aromatic waves of peat smoke.
Background: To create this 15 Year Old, Gordon Motion, the Master Distiller, selected predominantly sherry seasoned European oak casks to create warm, spicy notes, and sherry seasoned American oak casks to provide balance with notes of sweet vanilla. Expertly adding just a few refill casks to soften and smooth the flavours, Gordon chose to bottle at 44% ABV to allow this whisky's vibrant fruitiness and distinctive heathery peat to shine through.
