Jameson Black Barrel Small Batch Irish Whiskey is a richer, more full-flavoured take on the classic Irish style, driven by an increased use of heavily charred barrels. Produced at Midleton Distillery, this expression combines small batch grain and pot still whiskeys that have been matured in double-charred bourbon casks, along with a portion aged in sherry casks. The extra charring intensifies the interaction between wood and spirit, drawing out deeper notes of sweetness, spice, and toasted oak.
Compared to standard Jameson, this release offers greater depth and a more pronounced character while retaining its smooth, approachable nature. Notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted wood are more prominent, supported by hints of dried fruit and gentle spice from the sherry influence. The texture feels rounder and slightly richer, making it well suited to sipping neat while still working effortlessly in premium whiskey cocktails.
