Description

Description:

This expression represents the entry level of Janneau’s Armagnac range, produced in the Gascony region using traditional methods. Unlike Cognac, which is typically distilled twice in pot stills, Armagnac is often distilled once in a continuous column still, resulting in a spirit that retains more of the base wine’s character. Janneau is notable for using both column and pot still distillation, combining the two styles to achieve balance. Aged in French oak for a relatively short period, this VS expression highlights a more youthful and vibrant profile, with the influence of fresh wood still clearly present. Compared to older Armagnacs, it shows more direct fruit character and a slightly more rustic edge, reflecting the traditional style of the region. It can be enjoyed neat for a more immediate, fruit-driven experience, but is also well suited to cocktails where a fuller, more characterful alternative to Cognac is desired.
