Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Glenury Royal, has a rare single malt from the 'ghost' Glenury Royal Distillery at its heart. Nestled in the wild and remote Ury district of the Highlands, the distillery was founded in 1825 by Captain Robert Barclay, a friend to Royalty and the first recorded man to walk one thousand miles in one thousand hours. Perhaps inspired by the tenacity of its spirited founder, Glenury Royal overcame a devastating distillery fire, to rise again like a phoenix from the flames and produce whiskies renowned for their dynamic character and refined elegance. Then in 1985 it fell silent.
Glenury Royal gives this whisky notes of sumptuous orchard fruits, sweet apple and delicate apricot. This is beautifully heightened by the creamy toffee and butterscotch from Cambus and Cameronbridge. Other rare whiskies in the blend include Glen Elgin, Inchgower Glenlossie, Pittyvaich and Glenkinchie, these add waves of vanilla, heather honey and dried fruits that intertwine with smooth dark chocolate and nutty layers to create a perfectly balanced experience of this irreplaceable 'ghost' whisky.
Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare releases are a series of limited editions that explore the rich flavours and distinctive distillery character of selected whiskies from the Johnnie Walker Blue Label reserves. Each release offer a fleeting opportunity to enjoy the depth of character of whiskies from 'ghost' distilleries that have long since closed, but whose spirit still lives on in the precious liquid captured in every bottle.
