Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2005 is full bodied, richly peated and smoky. It has a richly flavoured palate, with intense layers of raisin sweetness and smoky flavour. It's perhaps the mightiest of the Islay malts, with a salty sea-spray edge. To reveal the full depth and complexity of this Distillers Edition of Lagavulin, the Master Distiller has hand-selected a small number of casks for double maturation in specially crafted pedro ximenez cask-wood. These casks provide rich accents of sun-dried grape sweetness, which complements this single malt's rich and complex style.
This limited release is usually made just once a year. The Distillers Edition enjoys both rarity and superior quality. Each bottle has the batch number printed, which shows the selected casks specifically chosen for double maturation. |
