Longmorn 23 Year Old is a well-aged single malt. Deep gold in gold in colour. It has notes of Jamaican ginger cake and toasted malt on the nose, followed by aromas of vanilla and warming spices like cinnamon. The palate exhibits a viscous and velvet-like character. Distinct notes of juicy over ripe tropical fruits shine through, such as peach, pineapple, apricot and a hint of papaya. This is followed by a delicious combination of milk chocolate and golden syrup. Then you get warming spices, including cinnamon and ginger, and also all-spice and a hint of clove. Woody notes develop, with hints of vanilla evolving into notes reminiscent of cedar and sandalwood. Later notes of candied lemon and orange peel, honey and caramelised pear add to the depth of this incredible whisky. The finish displays subtle pepper and bold vanilla notes. A great whisky, presented in an equally handsome bottle and presentation box. |
