Description

Description:

The 2016 vintage is shaped by contrast, with a difficult early season followed by much better conditions later on, which results in a wine that carries both freshness and ripeness, but in a measured and controlled way rather than anything broad or immediate. Pinot Noir plays the leading role here, giving the wine its structure and depth, while Chardonnay works around it to bring lift and definition, so the overall profile feels grounded but still precise. What comes through most clearly is the way the wine holds back slightly at first. It does not open fully straight away, but instead reveals itself in stages, beginning with citrus and red apple, then gradually moving into riper orchard fruit, with a light layer of pastry and toasted notes appearing as it develops.

There is a sense of tension running through it, but it is not sharp or aggressive. It sits underneath the fruit, keeping everything in place and giving the wine a steady, controlled progression rather than a wide or expansive feel. The texture reflects that same balance. The mousse is fine, and while there is a slight creaminess through the middle, it never builds into richness, instead keeping a smooth, even flow across the palate. Overall, this is a vintage that feels restrained but complete, where freshness, fruit, and development are all present, but none of them push too far ahead of the others.

Tasting Notes
Nose:
Slow to open, with lemon, red apple, and a light floral note, followed by subtle pastry and almond.

Palate:
Structured and even, with citrus and orchard fruit developing gradually over a fine, controlled texture.

Finish:
Long and steady, with freshness carrying through alongside light toasted notes, ending clean and balanced.
