Drawing on a blend of eaux-de-vie sourced from the main Cognac crus, this VSOP reflects Martell’s characteristic focus on elegance and aromatic clarity. A notable proportion of the blend comes from the Borderies cru, which contributes softer floral notes and a rounded texture, distinguishing it from more Grande Champagne-driven styles. Double distillation in copper pot stills is followed by aging in fine-grained French oak, often with a lighter toast level. This approach allows the spirit to develop complexity while preserving fruit and floral elements rather than emphasising heavy wood influence. Compared to younger expressions, the additional aging brings greater integration, with oak, spice, and fruit working in closer balance. The profile opens well in a glass at room temperature, while also adapting comfortably to longer drinks where a smoother, more developed Cognac base is desired.
