Suntory Yamazaki Distillers Reserve Single Malt Whisky is made by the oldest distillery in Japan, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. A non-age statement, fruity whisky. It's matured in Mizunara oak and also Bordeaux and sherry casks. On the nose, there's a burst of strawberry, cherry and a whiff of raisins. There are softer tones of honey and vanilla that underpin the sweetness on the nose. On the palate, you get raspberries, white peach and hints of coconut. The Japanese oak provides a welcome floral touch. The finish is gracefully long, with notes of sweet vanilla and cinnamon. An excellent non-age statement Japanese whisky.
