Description

Description:

This expression is a blended Caribbean rum combining distillates from Jamaica and Barbados, designed to showcase contrast between two distinct rum styles. Produced by The Duppy Share Rum Co., the blend draws from established distilleries, specifically Worthy Park in Jamaica and Foursquare in Barbados. The Jamaican component is a pot still rum aged for around three years. Pot still distillation retains a higher level of congeners, contributing ester-driven fruit notes and greater aromatic intensity. In contrast, the Barbadian component is a column still rum aged for approximately five years, delivering a cleaner and more structured profile with lower congener content.

Both elements are matured in ex-bourbon oak casks under tropical conditions before blending. This ageing introduces vanilla, caramel, and light spice, while the climate accelerates interaction between spirit and wood. The combination of different ageing periods and still types creates a layered but controlled profile. Blending is central to the final character. The lighter Barbadian rum moderates the intensity of the Jamaican component, while the pot still element ensures the spirit retains character and depth. Unlike many modern blends, this expression is typically presented without added sugar or spice, keeping the profile closer to a traditional rum style.

The overall style sits between lighter Spanish-style rums and heavier Jamaican expressions, offering balance between fruit, sweetness, and structure. It is designed for versatility, performing equally well in cocktails and as a straightforward sipping rum.

Tasting Notes
Nose:
Bright and fruity, with banana, pineapple, and citrus peel. Light vanilla and caramel sit beneath, with a faint ester lift.

Palate:
Balanced and medium-bodied, with tropical fruit, toffee, and gentle spice. The Jamaican influence adds depth, while the Barbadian component keeps the profile smooth and controlled.

Finish:
Medium in length, with lingering fruit, light oak, and soft spice. A subtle dryness develops, giving a clean and rounded finish.
