Produced on Falls Farm in Northamptonshire, this expression follows a traditional British sloe gin method, where fruit infusion rather than distillation defines the final character. It sits between gin and liqueur, with production focused on seasonal fruit, extended maceration, and natural extraction. The base spirit begins as a London dry style gin, distilled from a neutral grain alcohol with classic botanicals such as juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, and citrus peel. This provides a structured and dry foundation before fruit is introduced.
Fresh sloe berries, harvested from British hedgerows, are added after distillation. These berries are steeped in the gin for an extended period, typically around a month or longer, allowing flavour, colour, and natural sugars to be extracted into the spirit. The infusion process is central to the style. As the sloes macerate, they release both tart fruit notes and a characteristic almond-like nuance from the stones. Sugar is added to balance the natural sharpness of the fruit, resulting in a richer and more rounded profile than standard gin.
Unlike distilled flavoured gins, this method produces a deeper, more integrated fruit character, with texture and colour developed naturally rather than through added flavouring. Warner’s approach emphasises high fruit content, often using large quantities of handpicked sloes to achieve intensity. The final spirit is bottled at around 30 percent alcohol, placing it within the traditional sloe gin range. The result is a balance between sweetness, acidity, and the underlying gin structure, designed for both sipping and mixing. The overall style is rich, fruit-forward, and slightly tart, with a natural depth that reflects the use of real fruit and extended infusion.
