This is the 2019 release of William Larue Weller bottled at 128 proof and part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. A highly sought after and much prized range of expressions released annually from the Buffalo Trace Distillery. William Larue Weller is bottled straight out of the barrel without the addition of water and without filtering. The expression is named in honour of one of bourbon's early pioneers, noted for developing wheated bourbon, and as such this expression has a significant contribution from wheat in the mash bill. On the nose, there's aromas of vanilla, caramel and pecans. To taste it has a full, evolving and sophisticated flavour, with notes of toasty vanilla and coffee. The long finish is full of oak, cherries and dark chocolate. This whiskey is released only in very limited quantities each year and only a lucky few will ever get to taste this exceptionally rare bourbon whiskey. |
