Description

Description:

Part of Bollinger's PN (Pinot Noir) series, this cuvee is designed as a focused exploration of the house's signature grape. Each release in the series centres on a specific terroir and base year, with PN TX20 highlighting Pinot Noir from the Premier Cru village of Tauxieres, combined with fruit from Ay and Avenay. Unlike traditional non vintage Champagne blends, this is a Blanc de Noirs made entirely from Pinot Noir. The base year is 2020, accounting for just under half of the blend, with the remainder composed of reserve wines, including significant proportions from 2019 as well as older vintages such as 2012 and 2008. This layered approach builds complexity while maintaining consistency. Vinification follows Bollinger's characteristic method, with a portion of the wine fermented in oak barrels and the remainder in stainless steel. Oak fermentation introduces controlled oxygen exposure, enhancing texture and integration, while stainless steel preserves freshness and precision.

Ageing on lees extends well beyond the minimum required, typically around four years or more, allowing for development of autolytic character such as brioche and pastry notes. The dosage is moderate, around 8 grams per litre, balancing structure with accessibility. A defining feature of this cuvee is its terroir focus. Tauxieres contributes tension, precision, and a slightly mineral edge, while the inclusion of older reserve wines adds depth and roundness.

The overall style is structured and Pinot Noir driven, with a balance between freshness and vinosity. Compared to Bollinger's richer vintage wines, it is slightly more focused and linear, while still retaining the house's characteristic depth and texture.

Tasting Notes
Nose:
Layered and expressive, with citrus, pear, and stone fruit. Notes of brioche, almond, and light spice develop with air.

Palate:
Medium to full-bodied, with apple, redcurrant, and subtle pastry notes. A creamy texture is balanced by fresh acidity and a mineral backbone.

Finish:
Long and structured, with lingering citrus, light spice, and a saline mineral edge. Clean and persistent, with a refined and slightly vinous close.
