The blend follows Bollinger's house style, with a clear dominance of Pinot Noir, typically around 60 percent, supported by Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. A defining feature of Bollinger rose production is the addition of still red wine, sourced primarily from Grand Cru vineyards such as Ay and Verzenay. This method, rather than skin maceration, allows precise control over colour, tannin, and flavour, giving the wine a more vinous and structured character. Vinification includes fermentation partly in oak barrels, a hallmark of Bollinger's style. This introduces controlled oxygen exposure, enhancing texture and complexity while preserving the core fruit. Extended ageing on lees develops autolytic characteristics such as brioche, pastry, and nutty notes, while maintaining freshness.
